At a press conference on Sunday, Israeli Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev revealed the campaign for Israel’s 70th anniversary of independence. The campaign will start tonight and will continue throughout Israel’s 70th year of existence.

In honor of Israel’s 70th anniversary, this year’s Independence Day events will last for about 70 hours, starting on the evening of April 18, when Israel’s memorial day for fallen soldiers and terror victims ends, and wrapping up on Saturday evening. At the press conference, Regev revealed what the 70 hours of festivities will include.

“The nation of Israel will sing together on live TV from 32 different locations in Israel and around the world the song ‘Hallelujah’” as part of the first event of the celebration, Regev explained. Two special verses have been added to the song in honor of the occasion.

Firework displays followed by various concerts will be held throughout Israel on Wednesday night. An all-night beach party along Israel’s coast will begin after the shows.

Thursday will begin with the traditional independence day celebrations. On Thursday night, a massive “light parade” will be held in Tel Aviv. A recording of David Ben-Gurion reading the declaration of independence will be played on loudspeakers in several cities throughout Israel on Friday.
