After she stole the show on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in France, Israeli Sport and Culture Minister Miri Regev said that she received many compliments on her dress that featured the entire Jerusalem Old City skyline. She said that many were happy to see a dress with a message. “We are thinking now about how we can preserve the value [of the dress] and its character,” she told Channel 2 Online. “It should be moved to a museum in Jerusalem.”

“I received very emotional responses yesterday,” Regev added. “I’m amazed every time to see how people are so connected to Jerusalem. Artists and producers came and searched for the Kotel and the Temple Mount. It’s just amazing to see how much [they] love Jerusalem.”

Even though Regev’s dress did spark some criticism, she said that she did not encounter any hostility at the event. “They even asked me to come to another festival event in the same dress,” she stated. “I stood there and I just couldn’t move. Everyone came to take a picture with the dress and to search for places on it.”

Regev rented the dress from its designer Aviad Arik Herman. The two are now trying to figure out a way to preserve the uniqueness and message of the dress. Regev called on the public to suggest ideas that would preserve “the message that the dress conveys.”
