Two new Israeli banknotes will enter circulation next week. The 20 and 100 NIS bills will be the first banknotes in Israel to feature the portraits of women.

The new 50 and 200 NIS banknotes have already entered circulation. According to the Bank of Israel, the bills in the new series have markers that make it harder for criminals to forge them.

The orange 100 NIS banknote bears the portrait of poet Leah Goldberg. Almond tree blossoms are featured in the background- drawing from her well-known poem titled In my beloved land the almond tree blossoms.

The red 20 NIS banknote displays the portrait of Rachel Bluwstein (Rachel the Poetess) against the backdrop of palm tree branches. A section from one of her famous poems is featured on the other side of the bill.
