Apple announced today (Monday) its efforts in the battle to reduce traffic accidents with the upcoming iPhone IOS 11 operating system’s new feature called, "Do Not Disturb While Driving," which Apple deems on its Newsroom platform: “A new way to help drivers stay more focused on the road with Do Not Disturb while driving.”

The feature will enable users to neutralize alerts in order to avoid distractions while on the road. If the user is not the driver, the feature may be disabled to allow full access to notifications while on the move. Furthermore, the new addition can send auto-reply messages explaining that the user is driving and therefore unavailable.

Another significant upgrade coming this fall is to the “most popular personal assistant in the world,” Siri, which will become more powerful and advanced in machine learning and artificial intelligence. The voice service will feature “on-device learning” that will learn the user's actions and offer more personal based suggestions. Based on the user’s requests and actions, Siri will be able to offer relevant ideas through other apps. For example, if the user searched for information about flights to a specific destination, the device's News app will display related information on that destination.

In addition, the company introduced another series of innovations, including: the ability to transfer money easily via text messages synchronized with the Apple Pay service; options to translate languages via Siri, which currently is only available for some languages; the ability to share and receive playlists from friends using Apple Music; improvements to Apple Maps; and storing text messages in the cloud.

In addition to the iPhone enhancements, the company also previewed their new Mac desktop operating system called “macOS High Sierra.” According to Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi, the new OS is faster, safer and uses less storage space. The photo app will also be refreshed and will become more similar to Adobe’s Photoshop. The Apple Watch’s operating system will also undergo various upgrades and improvements.
