Israeli-German technology to thwart ISIS threat of small bombs on planesVarious terrorist organizations, including ISIS, are planning to carry out deadly attacks on planes. However, new German-Israeli technology will most likely eliminate the possibility of the terrorist organizations achieving their goals.
Recently, a new ISIS terror threat has made headlines: small but deadly bombs that airport screening systems fail to detect. In 2015, ISIS blew up a Russian plane over Egypt using a small bomb that was planted in the hold. This bomb caused the aircraft to crash in the Sinai Peninsula, killing 224 people.
However, new German-Israeli technology, elastic sheets that will cover the luggage in the hold, is supposed to protect the passengers from such a threat. The sheets are supposed to contain the explosion of such a bomb, protecting the plane from crashing or blowing up in midair.
Recent trials that were conducted show how a bomb can destroy an aircraft and how a plane equipped with this technology is able to withstand the serious blast. The sheets contain the blast and allow the plane to continue safely on its route.
At the moment, it appears that the technology will only be installed in the hold, not in the cabin, even though it is feared that ISIS is planning to smuggle small bombs hidden in laptop batteries into that area.
