Israeli startup signs partnership with largest EMR provider in South AfricaDatos Health, an Israeli startup that has developed a one-of-a-kind Patient-Generated Health Data (PGHD) management platform, and South Africa’s largest Electronic Medical Records (EMR) provider Med-e-Mass announced that they have entered a partnership that will help hundreds of thousands of chronic patients in South Africa.
Datos Health, an Israeli startup that has developed a one-of-a-kind Patient-Generated Health Data (PGHD) management platform, announced on Wednesday a new partnership with the largest Electronic Medical Records (EMR) provider in South Africa, Med-e-Mass. The Tel Aviv-based startup’s technology helps health care organizations, case managers, doctors and patients better manage PGHD on a large scale at a fraction of current costs.
The Datos PGHD platform will allow Med-e-Mass to link care plan incentives to a patient’s remote health progress, enabling the patient to take direct responsibility for their cost of care.
“We are anticipating that this novel approach of integrating insurers within the monitoring process alongside a patient and their doctor will significantly improve patient engagement while delivering enhanced care at a lower cost,” Datos Health CEO and Founder Uri Bettesh told JerusalemOnline.

Datos Health was founded two years ago and the startup has already launched several pilot programs, within different population groups. Projects are concurrently running monitoring hypertension, diabetes, elderly care and high-risk pregnancies with leading healthcare organizations in the U.S., South Africa and Israel. The Datos Health and Med-e-Mass partnership will be the Israeli startup’s first large-scale implementation in South Africa and will help hundreds of thousands of chronic patients.
“We are delighted to partner with Med-e-Mass,” added Bettesh. “Their forward-thinking approach supports our vision to help healthcare organizations connect the digital dots to provide true continuity of care and greatly improve the management of chronic conditions. Our flexible platform enables healthcare organizations like Med-e-Mass to integrate new patient technologies easily within their existing infrastructures.”
“The Datos partnership will enable us to provide a new approach to personalize care plans for better patient management,” said Med-e-Mass Managing Director Gideon Brits. “Using Datos’ automated PGHD platform, we will expand our capability to manage a complete health profile on a large scale.”
Datos’ proprietary technology uses cutting-edge data validation and automated care processes to seamlessly incorporate only the reliable and relevant PGHD into the clinical workflow, enhancing decision support with no additional effort. The platform also increases patient engagement and saves clinicians time by automatically optimizing care plans with the use of a personalized messenger bot.
