Just a few weeks before the US elections, democratic candidate Hillary Clinton gave an exclusive interview to Israel’s Channel 2 News, making it her first interview with the Israeli media during her presidential campaign.
The Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced Thursday that PA President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “agreed in principle” to meet in Moscow after both of them accepted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal. According to the reports in Russia, a date for the meeting has not yet been set. The prime minister's office said that Netanyahu was ready to meet with Abbas anytime but stressed that the real question remained whether or not the PA leader was willing to hold a meeting without any preconditions.
An Israeli court sentenced 6 Arab-Israelis from Sakhnin to 2-6 years in prison after they were convicted of forming an ISIS cell in order to carry out terror attacks in Israel. More than a year and a half ago, the Shin Bet revealed that a few young Arab-Israelis gathered some money in order to establish an ISIS cell in Israel. The head of the cell was Adnan al-Adin, a lawyer from Nazareth who worked as a public defender. Separate legal proceedings are being conducted against al-Adin.
The Labor and Welfare Committee of the Knesset held an emergency session on Thursday with the CEO of the construction company that built the parking garage that collapsed, Ronen Ginzburg of Danya Cebus, to discuss the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the structure. The committee chairman, said that committee sadly foresaw that there was serious negligence in the construction sector.
The Lod District Court rejected Netanya Mayor Miriam Feirberg's appeal against her arrest on corruption suspicions, ruling that her release may obstruct the investigation against her. And she will remain under arrest for six days. Feirberg was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of bribery, fraud and breach of trust after several hours’ grilling by the police fraud squad.
It was revealed on Thursday that the mortar shell that exploded on Wednesday in an open area in the Northern Golan Heights and the IDF had announced that it was a spillover from the fighting within Syria , landed 15 kilometers from the Syrian-Israeli border, which means that it reached the furthest inside Israel out of any Syrian mortar shell that landed in Israel since the Syrian Civil War began.
