The Obama administration on Friday blasted new comments by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he said critics of Israel’s settlement expansion in the West Bank are advocating the “ethnic cleansing” of Jews.

Israel Police is weighing the option to carefully investigate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for attempting to receive bribes. It is important to note that according to initial suspicions, this was an endeavor that Netanyahu carried out himself without the help of his son or wife. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Office said the following in response to the allegations: “Since Netanyahu’s victory in the last elections, and even beforehand, elements hostile to the Prime Minister are making strenuous efforts in order to lead to the Prime Minister’s fall through false accusations. Their false claims are a complete lie and they transpire as baseless arbitration.”

Israeli Air Force struck multiple targets in Syria on Saturday after a stray mortar landed in the Golan Heights. This is the third incident this week of spillover fire from the Syrian civil war. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated that it "holds the Syrian regime responsible for any action being taken within its borders, and will not tolerate attempts to undermine Israel's sovereignty or harm the security of its citizens."

US Secretary of State John Kerry announced on Saturday that the United States and Russia had successfully devised a plan to end the conflict in Syria. As part of the plan, a ceasefire will go into effect on Monday evening, the first day of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

The rescue efforts at the Tel Aviv parking garage collapse site ended on Saturday when the last body of the missing casualties was located . Earlier the IDF Homefront Command’s Rescue Forces located the body of the fifth casualty who had been missing since the tragedy. The total of people killed in the tragedy were six with some 20 people wounded.

In what seems to be a politically-based decision, the Algerian women's goalball team has skipped its first match against the United States at the Rio Paralympic Games, triggering speculations that it wanted to avoid playing against Israel in the next round. Sources said they had been told that the Algerian team couldn't show up due to "technical difficulties" with their flight.
