The Islamic State have been stockpiling ammonia and other toxic substances for the purpose of making chemical weapons to use against Iraqi forces in the battle for Mosul, the UN has warned. The terrorist organization has also ordered children to act as suicide bombers. Recently, the Iraqi military managed to gain control over another neighborhood considered to be a stronghold of ISIS.
Iconic singer, songwriter and composer Leonard Cohen has died at the age of 82. The Jewish-Canadian artist, who often blended romance and spirituality into his lyrics, released 14 studio albums during a career that spanned six decades. He has performed in Israel several times, most recently in 2009. Thousands of fans gathered outside his home in Canada and lit candles in his memory. This is Cohen speaking about death in an interview from last month.
Two days after winning the election and giving a conciliatory victory speech, US President-elect Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday and blamed the media for inciting people against him. Trump tweeted that the demonstrators were "professional protesters." In Portland, Oregon, demonstrations turned violent with locals carrying bats and causing destruction. Police had to use tear gas to quell the riots. SU
Fitch Ratings has upgraded Israel’s credit rating to A+ with a stable outlook. The agency said Israel has returned annual current account surpluses each year since 2003, and that this is expected to continue.
