- Netanyahu's lawyer takes polygraph test about submarine deal
- Turkish president Erdogan in exclusive interview
- 61 injured in bus accident
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's lawyer, David Shimron took a private polygraph test to prove his innocence regarding a bribe in the controversial submarine deal with a German company. The test was also to reveal whether or not Netanyahu knew all the details about Shimron's involvement in representing the German company.
According to the test, Shimron said he did not tell the Prime Minister about the details of the agreement. He also stated that he did not strike a deal to receive a bonus. The test showed that Shimron was telling the truth. The attorney general's office has decided after a long discussion on Sunday that there was no reason to open a police investigation into the affair.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the submarine affair, stating that the only consideration that guided him during the negotiations was ensuring Israel’s security. “My directing principle is clear,” said Netanyahu. “Israel must be able to defend itself, with its own forces against any enemy. This is my only consideration.” He added, “All discussions were documented and transparent.” The acting director of the National Security Council stated, “It is very possible that the former Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon was unaware of the details of the deal.” Coalition members are requesting an in depth investigation.
For the first time in 13 years, Turkish president Erdogan spoke to an Israeli reporter. Speaking to Channel 2 news reporter, Ilana Dayan, he stated that he wanted to open a new page in Israeli relations until Dayan mentioned the Marmara incident. "It's all a lie," he said. "We have the proof about the violent takeover of the ship by Israeli forces. I saw it all, but the facts speak for themselves. Do you think you can put Erdogan in a corner?"
