The Israeli Prime Minister’s wife, Sara Netanyahu, went this evening (Monday) to the protest tent in Jerusalem’s Sacher Park set up by doctors from the Hadassah Medical Center’s hematology-oncology unit, who are quitting their jobs, and by the parents of the children hospitalized within the unit. Leaders of the protest turned to Netanyahu with their request to establish a similar unit in Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center, as a rift has formed between doctors and Hadassah’s management, forcing the doctors to go to medical centers in central Israel with their patients for treatment.

The parents laid out their complaints to Netanyahu telling her of their enormous suffering from the crisis. “All of you are speaking from your hearts and your words have also entered into my heart as a psychologist and a mother and as a daughter, who lost her parents to this horrible disease,” stated Netanyahu. “You have me. I came here out of support and love and I am aware of the suffering each family is enduring.”

Netanyahu mentioned Israeli Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, stating that she spoke both with him and with her husband, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “I think that Litzman is a great minister and I felt that this is really hurting him,” she said. “I got the impression from him that he really wants to help. I think that his whole heart and soul is inside this fight with you.”
