Mazel Tov: First baby born in the new Jewish year of 5777

At 8:07 PM last night at Safed’s Ziv Medical Center, a healthy newborn weighing 3.165 kilograms joined the 8.585 million Israelis living in the country as the first newborn of the new Jewish year. "This is a very special Rosh Hashanah for us," said the father.

On Sunday night, a baby was born at Safed’s Ziv Medical Center. This baby was the first baby born in the new Jewish year of 5777. The baby was born at 8:07 PM (local time) and weighed 3.165 kilograms.

While the happy parents were in the hospital, the rest of the family, including their two daughters, were waiting in anticipation at home, celebrating Rosh Hashanah. "This is a very special Rosh Hashanah for us," said the excited father.

The newborn joins the 8.585 million Israeli citizens living in Israel, a rise of 172 thousand people from last year.
