Climate change led Al Gore to believe that the battle that he has been leading for nearly four decades has reached a critical turning point. The former US Vice President retired from politics after the US Supreme Court ruled that he lost the presidential election against former US President George W. Bush and over the past few years, has become the face of the war against global warming.
Ten years ago, Gore released the movie “An Inconvenient Truth,” which discusses the phenomena of climate change. The movie won an Academy Award, while Gore himself won a Nobel Peace Prize for his work. Currently, Gore is releasing a sequel, “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,” which also discusses the global perspective concerning the ever-changing weather.
“In the region where Israel exists, there are areas in the Middle East and North Africa that are in danger of becoming literally uninhabitable,” Gore explained during an interview with Channel 2 News. “Last year was the hottest year in the history of global measurements of temperature. The second hottest was the year before, the third hottest was the year before that. The pattern is clear – 16 of the 17 hottest since 2001. So, mother nature is speaking up in a very persuasive way.”
Gore received much criticism regarding the battle he is fighting, including from US President Donald Trump. “Our largest states like California, New York and many others, hundreds of cities, thousands of business leaders all said ‘we’re still in the Paris agreement,’” Gore stated. “So, there’s a distinction between Trump on the one hand and the United States of America on the other.”
