Southern Israel: Suspected leak of dangerous substance in industrial zone

After a dangerous substance apparently leaked out of a container in one of the factories in the Ne’ot Hovav industrial zone, the access road to the area was blocked off.

Firefighters were rushed to the Ne’ot Hovav industrial zone after receiving a report about a leak of a dangerous substance. According to the preliminary investigation, the substance leaked out of a container located in the Globus factory in the industrial park.

The firefighters and an emergency team from the Teva-Tech factory began dealing with the leak coming out of the container that is filled with ethyl chloroformate (UN number 1182). The employees of the building were evacuated and the access road to the industrial zone was blocked off.  

In addition, the employees of nearby factories were instructed to remain indoors. It is still unclear what caused the leak.
