13 people injured in car accident in Southern Israel; Baby in critical condition

A car collided with a bus on Highway 31 at the Shoket Junction. 13 passengers were injured including a 7-month-old infant and a 34-year-old man who are in critical condition and were evacuated by Magen David Adom (MDA) to Soroka Medical Center.

At 07:37 AM today (Tuesday), MDA was informed of a vehicle that hit a bus on Highway 31. MDA medics and paramedics treated the 13 injured passengers, including a 7-month-old infant and a 34-year-old man who are in critical condition, and evacuated them to Soroka Medical Center.

The man suffered a head injury. The infant suffered a multi-system trauma and she is currently sedated and on a respirator. Another passenger was moderately injured and 10 were slightly injured.

“This was a big accident,” said MDA paramedic Hanan Rozilio who was treating the wounded. “MDA teams that arrived at the scene rescued a 7-month-old infant who was found on a baby car seat. She was unconscious and suffered a multi-system trauma. We treated her and evacuated her to the hospital in critical condition while she was sedated and on a respirator.”

“We performed medical treatment on the 34-year-old driver of the vehicle who was also evacuated to the hospital in critical condition along with a 34-year-old woman who was moderately injured,” he added. “10 bus passengers were slightly injured and treated at the scene before being evacuated by MDA to Soroka Medical Center.”
