Ha-Bayit Ha-Yehudi Chairman Naftali Bennett declared that with Donald Trump's election for president, the era of the Palestinian state is coming to an end. Bennett was criticized by the coalition for these remarks.

"Trump's victory is an enormous chance for Israel to back down from the idea of the establishment of a Palestinian state in the heart of Israel," stated Bennett. "This is Trump's opinion as stated in his agenda and that should be ours as well."

Israeli officials responded by stating that US President Barack Obama is still in the White House and that Israel doesn’t want to prompt him to take any radical actions in the UN.

The officials also warn that it is too early for Bennett to celebrate since Trump's opinions on the matter are still not clear: "Bennett has been acting for internal political reasons and not diplomatic ones."
