A worker at the Komemiyut cemetery in Bat Yam was surprised when he found an unusual object deep in the ground as he was digging a grave yesterday morning (Wednesday). The worker was preparing the grave for a funeral that was supposed to take place on Thursday when his shovel suddenly became very heavy.

The worker jumped into the hole in order to check out what was stuck on his shovel when he surprisingly saw a metal object that looked like an old artillery shell covered with rust. The worker did not hesitate and called the police immediately. Officers from the local police department and a bomb squad from Tel Aviv evacuated the shell from the scene in order to neutralize it. It appears that the shell was in the ground since before Israel was established.
