Last week, seven Colombians and a Mexican were arrested in Israel on suspicion of carrying out systematic robberies while exploiting the elderly and stealing hundreds of thousands of shekels.

The gang members carefully chose their victims- senior citizens who had left the bank with money and were walking alone in the street. “I went to the bank and took out 6,500 shekels,” stated a 73-year-old who fell victim to the robbery. “Suddenly one of them came up behind me and sprayed tear gas.” The footage shows how a woman comes up to the victim to offer him a tissue. While he is distracted, someone else comes and takes his money.

A special investigation team managed to catch all of the gang members. Hundreds of thousands of shekels, euros and dollars were discovered in their secret apartment. After several remand extensions, the suspects are expecting to face indictments.
