First indictment against arsonist to be filed soon
Cause of Haifa fire may remain disputed, says senior-level officialThe Israel Fire and Rescue Services and Israel Police are surprised that the Israel Tax Authority released a list of towns that their residents are eligible for compensation because the fires that affected them were the result of nationalistically motivated arson attacks. According to the Israel Fire and Rescue Services, the fires in Gilon, Talmon and Haifa have not been cleared as arson attacks.
The Israel Tax Authority released today (Tuesday) a list of towns that their residents will receive compensation after determining that the fires in them were the results of acts of arson that were nationalistically motivated. However, the Israel Fire and Rescue Services and Israel Police claim that it has not been determined yet that all of the towns listed fell victim to arson attacks.
The list released today included Gilon, Talmon and Haifa. However, the Israel Fire and Rescue Services has not yet determined that the fires in these places were the result of arson attacks. The Israel Fire and Rescue Services believes that the fires in Gilon and Talmon will eventually be recognized as arson attacks, meaning that the main problem is the fire in Haifa. While there are some traces of evidence that suggest that the massive fire was started in several locations by arsonists, the investigation is far from being completed. A senior-level official involved in the investigation said that there is a huge dilemma and that it might not even be possible to ever officially conclude that the cause of the fire was arson.
