Last night (Wednesday), activists with Otzma Yehudit, a far-right nationalist political party in Israel, hanged a poster of a known terrorist from Jaffa’s Clock Tower. The Israel Police is investigating the incident.
The terrorist in the picture, portrayed wearing underwear with a hanging rope next to him, is 19-year-old Abed al-Karim Adel Asi. Al-Karim stabbed Rabbi Itamar Ben-Gal, a father of four from Har Bracha, to death in February. Al-Karim is an Israeli citizen and a resident of Jaffa.
According to the Orthodox faction’s website, Otzma Yehudit, translated to Jewish Power, believes that the “left-wing organizations and the Arab enemy work hard to erase every Jewish symbol from the sate.” Otzma Yehudit platform holds that all of the State of Israel belongs to the Jewish people, and that whoever disagrees should be expelled.
Tzvi Sukkot, the Director of Otzma Yehudit, was detained during a protest following the terrorist attack in which Ben-Gal was murdered. Together with other protesters, Sukkot blocked a main road in Samaria to Arab traffic and was detained by the Israel Police.
