Goldin family: “Hamas needs to understand that there are no free deals”

The family of Hadar Goldin, whose body is being held captive by Hamas, spoke with the media before their trip to the annual UN General Assembly. Hadar’s parents will demand that the UN Secretary-General intervene in order to ensure that their son’s body and the body of Oron Shaul, who was also killed in Gaza, return to Israel.

Simcha and Leah Goldin, the parents of Lieutenant Hadar Goldin who was killed in Operation Protective Edge and whose body is being held captive by Hamas in Gaza, held a press conference today (Tuesday) in preparation for their trip to the annual UN General Assembly. The Goldin family will join Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s entourage next week in New York and conduct several meetings in the US in order to raise awareness about their situation and promote the return of Hadar and Oron Shaul’s bodies to Israel.

“The government has a lot of leverage that it can use in order to pressure Hamas into returning Hadar and Oron,” claimed the parents. “Releasing prisoners is just one option and it is certainly not the first option. Hamas needs to understand that there are no free deals and no free meals.”

The parents said that they will demand that the UN Secretary-General appoint a special envoy to work on returning their son to Israel. Tomorrow, several of Hadar’s drawings will be on display at the UN Headquarters in New York.
