Grandmother caught smuggling thousands of cigarettes into Israel

Thousands of cigarettes were discovered in the luggage of three passengers who were traveling to Israel from Ukraine. More than 500 packages of cigarettes were confiscated by Israeli Customs agents.

More than 500 packages of cigarettes were confiscated when three Ukrainian passengers landed in Israel on a flight from Kiev. Two of the smugglers were an elderly grandmother and her 20-year-old grandson.

According to the police, later the same day, another Ukrainian man was caught smuggling the same amount of cigarette packages as the family beforehand but no connection between the two smuggling cases has been found.

The three smugglers are currently under the supervision on the Ben Gurion Airport Police for further treatment.
