The terrorist who murdered three Israeli family members on Friday in the settlement of Halamish has been named as Omar al-Abed, 19, from the village of Kobar near Ramallah.

Al-Abed, who was neutralized on the scene by an IDF solder on leave, had been active in a Hamas-affiliated student organization at the Al-Quds University. He had been arrested several times by Palestinian authorities. He recently detailed in a chilling Facebook post the reasons for his decision to carry out a terror attack.

"I'm 20 years old, I have many dreams and I believe they will come true," he wrote. "I love life and I love making others happy, but I cannot live after seeing women and young people murdered in al-Aqsa."

"I ask my family for forgiveness," he added. "I know I won't be coming back. I'm on my way to heaven."
