The Israeli Air Force attacked a Hamas military structure in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday night. The airstrike was carried out in response to the rocket fired from Gaza earlier on Monday evening.

“The IDF views the Hamas terror organization as solely responsible for the incidents in the Gaza Strip,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement. The rocket fell in open territory in southern Israel and no damage was reported.

The IDF is inspecting the Red Alert siren system, which did not go off during Monday’s launch. Tensions along the Gaza border have been escalating recently. On Friday, three mortar shells were fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip. Two of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome system and the third landed on top of a building in an Israeli town; no casualties were reported. In response, IDF tanks and Israeli Air Force fighter jets attacked Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
