Israel Police Commissioner declares launch of cyber-crime unit to combat pedophilia

Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh declared the launch of a cyber-crime unit today: “The police will be everywhere youth are found – Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat.” Alsheikh also revealed that tens of thousands of Israelis downloaded pedophilic content to their computers.

Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh spoke today (Wednesday) at the Payis Education Forum addressing the existing threats towards children and teenagers, especially concerning cyber-crime and pedophilia. “The police everywhere the youth are found – Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat,” Alsheikh said.

“If I say the number of Israelis who downloaded pedophilic content to their computers, everyone here will shudder,” he stated regarding the Israel Police’s operation against pedophiles and revealed that there are roughly tens of thousands of Israelis. “The number has five digits and isn’t’ at the bottom of five figures.”

Alsheikh declared that within the next few weeks, the 105 Unit will be launched in order to fight everything concerning cyber-crime and violence. Furthermore, a special hotline will be launched for cyber-crime reachable by dialing “105” or by contacting the unit on the internet.
