Milchan 'softens' version in Netanyahu bribery probe
Israel State Attorney against investigating Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi who said homosexuals should be killed4 months after calling the LGBT community "a cult of abomination", the Israel State Attorney decided that the statements made by Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi did not incite violence and decided not to open a case against Rabbi Amar.
Today (Thursday), the Israel State Attorney decided that Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar’s statements against the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community do not call for an investigation. In November, Rabbi Amar told Yisrael Hayom that the Torah obligates putting them to death.
“Looking into the matter, we found that Rabbi Amar did not directly call or imply to act violently against members of the LGBT community,” stated the Israel State Attorney decision. “According to him, the right course of action is to contact members through dialogue and encourage them to change their way.”
“I expect him to restrain his statements,” stated New Family Organization CEO Irit Rosenblum. “To prevent such comments that lead other rabbis to follow his example while there is an audience who listens.”
