Israelis mark Independence Day by traveling around the country in national parks and other places

Masses of Israelis visited nature reserves and travelled across the country. There was heavy traffic near the Ramat David and Tel Nof Air Force bases as well as at the entrances to the Ashkelon and Ein Hemed National Parks.

Israel is celebrating its 69th birthday and tens of thousands of Israelis went out to celebrate in the national parks and at the various Independence Day events. They also watched the Israeli Air Force aerial display. Heavy traffic was felt in numerous areas of the country.

The Nature and Parks Authority reported that 300,000 visitors went to the nature conservatories and national parks today. They also announced that Ein Hemed, Hurshat Tal and Ma’ayon Harod National Parks had full occupancy and therefore, additional visitors were not able to enter. It was also reported that there was heavy traffic leading up to Ashkelon National Park.
