Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer was questioned by police as part of the investigation into the allegations that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received gifts from Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan in exchange for favors. Dermer was reportedly asked about assisting Milchan in receiving an American visa.

Dermer, one of Netanyahu’s close associates, was asked to testify about specific instructions he received from Netanyahu, which led him to contact former US Secretary of State John Kerry about organizing a visa for Milchan. Meanwhile, it was reported that the US State Department is currently refusing to grant the Israeli Justice Ministry’s request to question former US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro regarding Milchan’s visa matter.

The request was filed months ago. It appears that the US administration is very uncomfortable about being involved in an investigation into Netanyahu. However, the US refusal is not expected to hinder the ongoing investigation.
