Likud Central Committee activists will convene on Sunday to vote on a proposal calling to implement Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank. The Likud Central Committee is the body that determines the movement’s current issues from one conference to the next and is authorized to pass resolutions and change them.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is unlikely to support the committee’s wishes. However, several MKs decided to join the activists’ vote on the proposal. “I call all Likud members to attend the Central Committee’s conference, where we will vote for unrestricted construction all over Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem our capital and for the implementation of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria,” said Israeli Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan in a recorded statement to the activists.

“Likud is primarily an ideological movement that isn’t only involved in investigations and [police] recommendations,” Likud activists said. “After Trump’s declaration and his struggle for Jerusalem, it is time for Israeli sovereignty in the settlements. Trump isn’t more Zionist than us and it is time the government proves that is has no less courage than Trump in matters involving Israeli sovereignty.”
