Dozens of ultra-Orthodox Jews rioted in Mea Shearim on Tuesday while Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman visited the Haredi neighborhood in order to console Rabbi Firer, who recently lost a loved one. The rioters gathered outside of the building where the meeting was taking place and tried to prevent Lieberman from leaving. When Lieberman came outside, the rioters started to hurl stones and items at the minister’s security guards.

Police officers were rushed to the scene at the request of Lieberman’s security team. The officers dispersed the crowd and accompanied Lieberman and his security guards out of the neighborhood.

An 8-year-old girl was slightly injured when one of the stones accidentally hit her in the head. She was treated by civilians and police officers at the scene until Magen David Adom paramedics arrived and took her to a hospital.
