29-year-old First Sergeant Yosef Kirma was shot and injured during the exchange of fire between police and the terrorist from today’s shooting attack near Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. Kirma was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Kirma is survived by his wife, parents and 2 brothers. He was laid to rest at 5:30 PM today at Mount Herzl.

Kirma joined the police force 4 years ago. Last December, he and his partner noticed a suspicious man near a kindergarten. They followed the suspect and decided to stop and search him. They found a knife on him and during his interrogation, the terrorist admitted that he planned to execute a stabbing attack. For thwarting this terror attack, Kirma received a citation from the Jerusalem District Police Chief.
