The Israeli man severely injured in Wednesday's terrorist attack in a Yanve supermarket is Niv Gil, the deputy manager of the store. His condition has reportedly improved slightly, but is still considered life-threatening.

Gil's family have issued a statement thanking the medical staff at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot and asking for prayers. "We would like to thank the people of Israel for the support," the family said. "We ask of you to keep praying for his speedy recovery."

The terrorist who stabbed Gil had come from the Palestinian city of Yatta south of Hebron.

Israel's President Reuven Riviln spoke with Gil's wife, Sigalit, and promised to assist the family in every possible way.
