A 50-year-old man from the village of Kabul in Northern Israel was arrested Monday night after threatening over the phone to harm the medial team at Rambam Hospital in Haifa. The man’s wife was supposed to undergo surgery at the hospital but was informed that it was to be postponed. The suspect then called the department in which his wife was hospitalized and threatened one of the nurses. He claimed that if his wife was not operated on the original date, he would come to the hospital with gasoline and burn the hospital down.

As soon as the call was over, the hospital's security department contacted the police. Shortly thereafter, the suspect was arrested and taken in for interrogation at the Shfaram police station. During the arrest, the suspect apparently felt ill and lost consciousness. He was then taken to a hospital in Nahariya for medical treatment.

Due to his medical condition, the suspect was released under restrictive conditions and he was forbidden to approach the Rambam Hospital for 10 days or to contact the medical staff.

The incident comes less than a week after the arrest of a 43-year-old man from Yehud suspected of threatening a doctor at a local health clinic.
