The terrorist who killed a British student on the Jerusalem light rail early Friday afternoon was taken down by a police officer on leave, Channel 2 News reported.

The officer was on the train with his wife and children. When he heard the victim's screams, he approached the terrorist and fought him bare-handed, despite having his gun with him. He managed to pin him to the ground and hold him down until police forces arrived.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was initially described as being in critical condition but later succumbed to her wounds in the hospital.

The suspected terrorist is 57-year-old Jamil Tamimi, a resident of the East Jerusalem Palestinian neighborhood of Ras al-Amud. He reportedly suffers from mental health issues and has tried to commit suicide in the past. It was also reported that he had once made an attempted sexual assault on one of his daughters.
