Polls reveal Israeli PM Netanyahu with large majority following Trump’s visit to Israel

Following US President Donald Trump’s visit to Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s position strengthened according to the polls.

Following US President Donald Trump’s visit to Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s party, Likud, has climbed back to first place, according to a poll conducted for Channel 2 News.

According to the poll conducted by Midgam, Netanyahu and the Likud currently have 30 mandates or seats, similarly to the 2015 election, although 8 more than predicted in the last poll. A large number of the mandates returning to the Likud are coming from the Yesh Atid party, who suffer a large fall with only 22 mandates.

According to the poll, the Joint Arab List has 13 mandates, similarly to what it has today and the Zionist Camp only 12. The Jewish Home, led by Minister Naftali Bennett, is experiencing a slow decline over the past several months with 9 mandates, only 1 more than it has today.

When asked who is the most suitable candidate for Prime Minister, Netanyahu led with a large majority of 35 percent. 47 percent stated that they support a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders while 39 percent were opposed.
