Report: Israeli intelligence failed to discover Syrian reactor sooner that it didA secret report conducted in real time found a number of failures in the work of the Israeli intelligence, which only found out about Syria's nuclear reactor 5-6 years into its construction.
Israel's State Comptroller confirmed on Friday that a secret report, written while the operation to blow up Syria's nuclear reactor was unfolding, found a number of failures and oversights with regard to the work of the Israeli intelligence.
A statement by the State Comptroller's Office said the report, which was started shortly after the discovery of the reactor in March 2007, indicated that the discovery came as "a strategic surprise" and that "certain shortcomings" were found.
Earlier this week, former Mossad Director Tamir Pardo said in an interview that the agency's success in obtaining vital information about the reactor was the sole reason Israel ever became aware of its existence.
Israel revealed on Wednesday that it was responsible for the bombing of a Syrian nuclear reactor in 2007, ending more than a decade of secrecy.
