Report: PM's wife and son influenced him in major decisions
Report: Sara Netanyahu tried to attack PM's Office chiefThe prime minister's wife reportedly clashed with Eli Groner, the Director-General of the PM's Office, over funding for the Netanyahus' home in Ceasarea.
Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, tried to physically attack her husband's office chief, Haaretz reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the incident occurred in January during a meeting between Mrs. Netanyahu and Eli Groner, the Director-General of the PM's Office, who resigned two days ago. The two were reportedly discussing Mrs. Netanyahu's request that the state fund the renovation of the Netanyahu family's private home in Caesarea.
According to office employees quoted by Haaretz, the conversation "reached high decibels" and at some point Mrs. Netanyahu walked toward Groner in a threatening manner and was stopped by an employee.
Following this scuffle, which both Mrs. Netanyahu and Groner have denied, Groner decided to resign and talked it over with Yoav Horowitz, the PM's Chief of Staff, who promised him such an incident wouldn't repeat itself. The prime minister, according to the report, never spoke to Groner about the matter.
