Sara Netanyahu filed an appeal with the National Labor Court yesterday (Monday) regarding the Menny Naftali case. Last year, the Jerusalem Labor Court ordered the state to pay Naftali 170,000 NIS ($46,444) in compensation due to the verbal and emotional abuse that he suffered at the hands of the Israeli prime minister’s wife when he was the chief caretaker of the Prime Minister’s Residence.

Yossi Cohen, Netanyahu’s personal lawyer, requested that his client be allowed to join the legal proceedings in the case. Netanyahu claimed in the appeal that if she was given the chance, she could have produced evidence that proves that Naftali’s claims are false.

The Israeli prime minister’s wife stated in the appeal that Naftali’s claim about her daily alcohol consumption is a lie. “It’s clear that an average person and certainly a person of the appellant’s weight is not capable of drinking three bottles of champagne a day especially if that person is an expert psychologist in the public service and is responsible for many duties as part of his [or her] position,” read the appeal.
