Sephardi Chief Rabbi: Syrians in Aleppo are ‘suffering a small Holocaust’The Sephardi Chief Rabbi weighed in on the situation in Aleppo, Syria during an interfaith meeting in Jerusalem: “We cannot remain silent when there is a genocide.”
During an interfaith meeting with religious leaders from Israel and the West Bank at the Israeli President’s Residence last night (Thursday), Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef commented on the war in Syria. Yosef requested that during these important days of introspection, the silence regarding the “genocide” in Aleppo come to an end.
“We cannot remain silent when there is a genocide,” Yosef said. “We cannot allow what happened to us in the Holocaust to repeat itself.”
“Millions of refugees are homeless, hundreds of thousands of others are starving and under a siege,” he continued. “They aren’t our friends but they are people who are suffering a small Holocaust.”
Yosef claimed that the Jewish people cannot ignore what is happening in Syria after the world was silent during the Holocaust.
