Six people were injured today (Sunday) when a ceiling collapsed at a school construction site located near the Hura Bedouin village in southern Israel. Magen David Adom (MDA) personnel who arrived at the scene provided preliminary medical treatment to the six people who suffered from different levels of trauma.
MDA stated that its medics and paramedics provided treatment to four slightly wounded people and to two additional people who sustained moderate injuries. The six injured people are fully conscious and were not trapped underneath the rubble of the al-Sayyid construction site. The Israel Police reported that the casualties were all construction workers employed at the site. Police officers dispatched to the scene reported the accident to the Israeli Labor Ministry and opened an investigation into the incident.
“When I arrived to the scene, there was a lot of commotion,” said MDA emergency medic Kassem Nasara. “Laying outside of the building were six wounded people, who were conscious and had sustained trauma to their head and limbs. Together with additional MDA personnel, we performed medical inspections on them and they were evacuated to Soroka Medical Center. Sweeps are being conducted at the scene in order to ensure that there aren’t any additional wounded people at the site.”
