Taba Border Crossing reopened for Israeli citizensThe Israeli Counter-Terrorism Bureau instructed to re-open the Taba Border Crossing with the Sinai Peninsula but still warn of concrete dangers.
Today (Friday), following a re-assessment of the situation and with the approval of the government, the Israeli Counter-Terrorism Bureau (CTB) instructed to re-open the Taba Border Crossing into the Sinai Peninsula for Israeli citizens. “The threat remains severe,” the Bureau stated.
An announcement said that the travel warning is still relevant and that there are still concrete and immediate dangers. The CTB clarified that a visit to the area should be avoided and that those already there should leave immediately.

“The decision to prohibit citizens from exiting through the Taba Crossing was made based on official authority assessments suggesting that there was a concrete threat to travelers in Sinai during Passover,” stated Minister of Transportation and Intelligence Yisrael Katz. “Due to the intensified ISIS activity in the Sinai Peninsula and due to the severe terrorist attacks in Egypt.”
