Following terror threats: Israel shuts down border crossing into SinaiConcrete information regarding a terror attack in the coast of Sinai led to the decision to prevent the passage of all Israeli citizens to Sinai through the Taba crossing, until the end of Passover. The Counter-Terrorism Bureau calls on Israelis to return to Israel immediately.
Today (Monday), Israeli Minister of Transportation and Intelligence Yisrael Katz decided to close the Taba crossing for Israeli citizens as of immediately and until the end of Passover, in a week. The decision was reached following increasing threats as well as yesterday’s terrorist attacks in Egypt. Egypt was updated regarding the decision.
Katz decided to close the crossing after consulting with Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman as well as other security officials. However, the crossing will be open for foreign citizens who wish to leave Israel to Egypt’s Sinai.
