Another body pulled from underneath rubble in Tel Aviv; Total of 3 killed

A third body was discovered over the night by rescue workers underneath the rubble of the parking garage that collapsed in Tel Aviv’s Ramat HaHayal neighborhood yesterday. 4 people are still believed to be trapped underneath the remains of the structure.

The efforts to rescue 4 people who are believed to be trapped underneath the rubble continue this morning (Tuesday). Over the night, rescue workers found another body at the scene, increasing the death toll to 3. The search and rescue teams are in a race against time to locate and rescue the people who are still missing. Last night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the scene and said that all the possible efforts are being made in order to rescue those trapped.

When the sun went down in Tel Aviv’s Ramat HaHayal neighborhood last night, many giant searchlights and special lighting equipment were brought to the scene in order to allow the rescuers to continue their searches. Yesterday evening, 5 people were rescued from underneath the rubble.

As reported by JOL yesterday, a 4-story underground parking garage collapsed in Tel Aviv’s Ramat HaHayal neighborhood at around 11:25 AM. 24 people were injured in the tragedy. Most of the wounded have already been released from the hospital. The Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry stated that one of the three people who were killed was a foreign worker. In addition, the ministry said that four of the wounded are Israelis who are also citizens of other countries.
