Israel braces for heavy winter storm
Snow piles up on Mount Hermon as heavy storm batters IsraelIsraelis woke up to a stormy Friday morning, with temperatures dropping to single digits in some areas. The storm will reach its peak later in the day before leaving us on Saturday.
A heavy rainstorm hit Israel early Friday morning and is expected to bring wind gusts of up to 90 km/h with possible flooding along the coastal plain.
The Mount Hermon ski site was closed due to the falling snow. About 15 cm of snow have piled up in the mountain's lower level so far. The Sea of Galilee water level has risen by 3 cm.

The unusual amount of rain has caused two vehicles to get stuck inside a 60-cm puddle at a major intersection in central Israel. Police forces rescued the drivers. The strong wind has downed trees on parked cars in the Tel Aviv area.
Temperatures will remain low throughout Friday. The storm is expected to leave Israel within the next 24 hours.
