A passenger aircraft test landed at the new international airport in southern Israel, which is expected to help reduce the crowds Ben-Gurion International Airport in Lod.

As part of a test, a passenger aircraft landed Tuesday at the new international airport in southern Israel, Ramon International Airport.

450 people participated in the emergency drill that was conducted in accordance with international standards so that the airport could obtain its operating license. After the preparations are completed, Ramon International Airport is expected to function as Israel's second international airport.

The Ramon Airport project, which includes a flight control tower, a spacious terminal, Duty Free stores and parking lots, is expected to accommodate 2 million passengers a year and reduce some the crowds at Israel’s main international airport, Ben-Gurion Airport in Lod.
