East Jerusalem: ISIS terror cell exposed
Preparations for Rosh Hashanah: West Bank to be sealed offIsrael’s security forces are busy preparing for this evening’s eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The West Bank will be sealed off until Tuesday night. In addition, the Jerusalem District Police is preparing for possible clashes near the Temple Mount and has decided to not allow Jewish visitors to ascend the holy site.
A year after the murder of Alexander Levlovich, which marks the start of the current terror wave, the Israel Police and other security forces are on high alert in Jerusalem and the West Bank ahead of the eve of Rosh Hashanah, which begins this evening (Sunday).
Starting tonight at midnight, the West Bank will be sealed off and all the border crossings into Gaza will be closed. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated that only Palestinians with humanitarian, medical and urgent cases will be allowed to pass the blockade into Israel. All cases will need to be approved by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories. The blockade will be removed on Tuesday evening a minute before midnight in accordance to the security assessment.

Meanwhile, the Jerusalem District Police is preparing for clashes near the Temple Mount. The police department fears that Muslim extremists will try to disturb the peace after the morning prayers at the holy site. Due to the fact that Muslims will be celebrating tomorrow the Islamic New Year and in light of intelligence information that the police department has gathered, it was decided to not allow Jewish visitors to ascend the Temple Mount.
This decision sparked outrage among many right-wing organizations. The Jerusalem District Police emphasized that the increased security and police presence along the Green Line and especially in Jerusalem will remain until the end of the Jewish High Holidays.
As reported yesterday by JOL, an IDF soldier sustained moderate-serious wounds after a Palestinian terrorist stabbed him in Northern Jerusalem. The terrorist was eliminated at the scene.
