The wave of fires continues to threaten Israelis throughout the country. In the past 24 hours, four fires have been reported. Last night, a fire threatened the residents of Neve Shalom near Latrun but has since been put out. This morning, a fire in the Hadera Forest was quickly put out by firefighters who arrived at the scene. However, just a few hours later, a fire in Atlit forced about 200 children to evacuate their school. Shortly after the fire in Atlit made headlines, a massive blaze near the eastern entrance to Zikhron Ya'akov broke out.

The Zikhron Ya'akov blaze has already spread toward the homes in the northern part of the town’s Givat Eden neighborhood, setting fire to four houses. So far, eight people, including a 10-day-old infant, have been treated for smoke inhalation. In light of the massive blaze, a state of emergency has been declared for Zikhron Ya'akov.

The fire is spreading quickly. However, eight firefighting aircraft and a police helicopter are trying to assist the firefighters on the ground in putting out the blaze.
