Palestinian Football Association Chairman Jibril Rajoub is set on a political agenda against Israel within the FIFA Congress attempting to ban the Israeli National Soccer Team and other Israeli teams from settlements. In response, an Israeli legal organization filed a claim today (Monday) to FIFA’s Ethics Committee calling to depose Rajoub from his position for acts of racism, inciting violence and causing danger to Israeli players.

Within the claim filed by Avichai Yihya and Asher Ezran, Chairman and CEO of HaPoel Kfar Shalem soccer team, several quotes stated by Rajoub were included, such as: “Any act of normalization within sports with the Zionist enemy is a crime against humanity,” as well as Rajoub calling terrorists a source of national pride on several occasions. In order to back up these statements, the claim noted an event Rajoub held honoring a Palestinian terrorist and also holding a tournament in honor of an additional terrorist. According to Yihya and Ezran, all of these incidents break FIFA’s Rules of Ethics.
