After dozens of Israeli Druze citizens broke through the border fence with Syria in order to join the ongoing battle in Khader, this morning (Tuesday), seven suspects were arrested on suspicion of rioting, attacking Israeli security forces and damaging the fence.
During the day, the suspects, residents of Majdal Shams and Ein Qiniyye, will be brought for a court hearing to discuss the extension of their remand. Of the seven suspects, two are minors. “The Israel Police strongly opposes any reckless disturbance which may endanger the lives of residents and soldiers in the region,” the police stated. “The Israel Police will act to bring lawbreakers to justice and continue to cooperate with other security forces to maintain the security of the Israel.”
During the weekend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated from London that Israel will continue to “guard our borders and to cherish our sympathy toward our Druze brothers.”
