Newly-elected Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh is accusing US President Donald Trump of trying to "eradicate the Palestinian issue" by promoting peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

"Since Trump took office in the United States, there's been an attempt to eradicate the Palestinian issue by achieving what's being called 'the deal of the century,'" Haniyeh said during a speech in the Gaza Strip Wednesday.

He added that Hamas is "against the recognition of Jewish sovereignty at the Western Wall" and said the terrorist organization will "strongly oppose any deal that would harm the right of the Palestinian people in their historic homeland."
